Allow me to introduce— Thimbi, Pep, & Jig! An ant named Thimbi is joined by his two close friends Pep the Peppermint and Jig the Puzzle Piece as characters come to life in a children’s book based on a game I played as a child with my Grandma Timpe. ‘Hide the Thimble’-it was her version of hot and cold but it was far more intense due to the small size of the hidden thimble. I envision my characters starring in an interactive children’s book that utilizes physical versions of each friend so the reader can simultaneously play games that intertwine with the story line—thus leading to a combination of excitement, learning & the creation of each child’s own story.
My Grandma Timpe taught me how to draw. Whenever we visited I’d always sketch her scenes from ‘Garfield’. But more importantly, she was a true role model. I respected her teachings on how to treat others & the value of laughter.
